Dr. Heather McKelvey, a graduate of UAB Heersink School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama, is also credentialed as a Registered Health Information Administrator. Her first career in health information management as a Louisiana Tech University graduate quickly revealed her love of medicine and desire for diagnosing and treating patients as a physician. After several years in the fields of medical coding, web design and homemaking, she returned to school later in life to pursue her dream.
In addition to medicine, Dr. McKelvey is also passionate about teaching pointed pen calligraphy and encouraging health and wellness through the meditative process of fine art. Her research interest involves studying the effects of calligraphy training on anxiety levels. She looks forward to incorporating a behavioral health emphasis in her practice and is excited to combine her passions of mental health and calligraphy.
When she is not caring for patients, Dr. McKelvey cherishes time spent with her husband Bill and her adult children when they’re home from college. Crestwood Medical Center was the natural choice for her residency training, allowing her to embrace community, wellness, and the beauty of Madison County.
