Dear Prospective Internal Medicine Residency Candidates,
I am excited to announce the ACGME-accreditation and launch of year 2 of our Internal Medicine Residency Program at Crestwood Medical Center. It is my privilege to be the founding Program Director. I have been in practice for over 20 years and involved in teaching for the last 15 years in a variety of settings and for various levels of health care providers. I am also the Medical Director of our busy Hospitalist program here at Crestwood where we are dedicated to community service, education and patient care – and where we embrace diversity, equity and inclusion.
As a resident, you will be working with top physicians in our community and be involved with multi-disciplinary teams that will help you become an excellent, knowledgeable and skilled clinician. Designated didactic hours daily, clinical skills hours, procedures, morning rounds and journal club are just a few of our offerings.
Our passion is teaching and our aim is to train independent physicians who will serve their communities with care and who will practice evidence based medicine. We will work to prepare and support those who desire to continue their training in specialty fellowship programs. Residents who complete our program should readily find positions in the rapidly growing Huntsville community. Additionally, Crestwood Medical Center is part of Community Health Systems (CHS) which has more than 75 hospitals in 15 states, making post-residency fellowships or practice opportunities plentiful if you choose to move away from our community.
Crestwood Medical Center is located in the Huntsville metro area where there is much to offer: recreational activities, easy access highway and air travel, low traffic and great weather. Huntsville has many years of “top 10” ratings for best places to live, work and raise a family – most recently claimed the #1 spot in US News and World Report’s 2022 ranking.
